Summer Wedding in Columbus Indiana: Hayli and Quintin

Working with Hayli and Quintin to capture their sweet summer wedding, was an absolute treat. As you may remember from their engagement session, these two have a very playful kind of romance, and they are up for anything when it comes to photos.

I began my day with Hayli at Factory 12 Event Loft, where we captured some getting ready details and her mother and sister helping her into her gorgeous Justin Alexander gown. The Loft space is huge and the midday window light was a bit harsh, so I added some bounce fill from my studio lights, and I absolutely love the soft, glowing look we created!

I was very lucky to have Evy from Evangeline Renee shooting with me for this wedding, and while I was working with Hayli, she captured Quintin and his groomsmen got ready at Hotel Indigo in downtown Columbus.

Hayli and Quintin planned to have a First Look before the ceremony so we could get all of their family and wedding party portraits finished beforehand. Of all the things I get to witness and photograph during a wedding, First Looks are some of my favorites because they can be so intimate, emotional, and joyful. This one was all of those things and more. Quintin was so overwhelmed when he saw Hayli that he could hardly speak, but he did eventually say many, many sweet things.

First Looks can also give you some fun moments–like when Hayli showed Quintin her sparkly Kate Spade tennis shoes and he reciprocated by showing off the sushi print socks he’d bought the day before.

We photographed the wedding party in front of the iconic wooden doors at First Christian Church in Columbus. In addition to providing a beautiful backdrop, the church gave us some much needed shade on this hot, sunny August day.

The ceremony at First Christian Church was just gorgeous. With it’s high ceilings and giant windows, this church is the only indoor space where the couple and their guests haven’t had to turn on any lights in the building and could have their wedding with only natural daylight. Shooting an indoor ceremony with all natural light is a dream for a photographer, and I just love all the glowing images from this wedding. Due to the time of day, the intense direct sunshine, and the time of year, there are a number of images where the church is mostly dark and Hayli and Quintin are standing in a sunbeam together. I hope you love them as much as I do!

As if that wasn’t enough, I got to photograph the sweetest little ringbearer and flower girl and a balloon release as Hayli and Quintin left the church. (Also, look for the fist bump that Quintin gets as he walks his bride up the aisle.)

For our portraits of Hayli and Quintin, we wandered through the blooming flowers and stone columns at Irwin Gardens and visited the grape arbor at Cummins.

We wrapped up our day with the wedding reception back at the Factory 12 Event Loft. The window light had really softened, and the candles and string lights gave the room a soft glow. After sunset, I brought out my studio light again to bounce a little light for the dancing photos, and I’m just thrilled with how beautiful they are!

Hayli and Quintin, thank you so much for having me along on your adventure! The journey is just beginning for you two.

And many thanks to all the vendors who made this day so beautiful and memorable!
