I'm so glad you're here! This is where you can keep up with my latest weddings, engagements, and family sessions as well as my personal artistic projects and paleo-ish recipe hacks. It's a great way to get to know me and my work, and I'd love to hear your thoughts and ideas for future posts in the comments.
I don’t know many people who would start off a photo shoot by eating an entire waffle cone, but that’s exactly what Hayli and Quintin did. These two have a very playful, laid-back vibe, and they wanted their photos to capture that light-hearted spirit.
As a native of Columbus, Hayli wanted to visit some of her favorite spots downtown–including Zaharakos ice cream parlor. Thanks to the kind staff there, we were able to bring a table outside onto the sidewalk so Quintin and Hayli could enjoy their ice cream al fresco, surrounded by blossoming pear trees. (If you look closely, you’ll see that one of the petals actually fell onto her sprinkle cone.) After their sweet treat, we walked to a favorite alley with the signature bright colors and clean lines of Columbus’ modern architecture.
I’m going to be honest and say that I completely fell for Hayli and Quintin during our session. These two are so clearly comfortable, playful, and crazy-in-love together. Spending a few hours with them brought me right back to my own months of engagement, when I was head-over-heels for Griffin and counting down the days until our wedding.
I also have some serious #outfitgoals after shooting this session. Hayli’s striped romper was a perfect fit for an old-timey ice cream parlor and a walk in the spring, and her rose gold engagement ring seemed to epitomize her simple, romantic style.
There’s actually quite a story behind that ring: long before they got engaged, Hayli told Quintin that she didn’t want a diamond ring–just a plain gold band. But he had an idea about creating the perfect ring for her, so he went out and had a rose gold ring with an oval diamond specially designed. The only problem was that it didn’t arrive in time for his proposal. He had Hayli’s whole family in on the event, so he went ahead anyway and asked her to be his wife with a Ring Pop. After that, she told him she either needed a new Ring Pop every day, or a gold band, but once he gave her the ring, she was completely “obsessed” with it and happy to admit that he knew what she wanted better than she did herself.
I’ll be sharing more from this engagement session over the next several days (you are going to love the next two outfits and locations). In the meantime, I want to thank you, Hayli and Quintin, for making this such a delightful and memorable session for me. I really felt like I could have kept shooting for hours, and I am so excited for your wedding in August.
I also want to thank the kind staff at Zaharakos for hosting us and letting us rearrange the furniture. It was a truly magical location!
