I'm so glad you're here! This is where you can keep up with my latest weddings, engagements, and family sessions as well as my personal artistic projects and paleo-ish recipe hacks. It's a great way to get to know me and my work, and I'd love to hear your thoughts and ideas for future posts in the comments.
I absolutely love capturing engaged couples out in nature, and spring is one of the most beautiful times of year in the midwest. Layton and Chelsea will wed this summer in Northern Michigan, but they came down to Indianapolis for their engagement photos at Newfields a few weeks ago.
It wasn’t peak bloom time for the trees yet, but the spring flowers were out in force! My family hails from the Netherlands originally, and tulips are my absolute favorite flowers. Needless to say, this place was a dream to photograph.
Being newer to Indy, I didn’t know what to expect at Newfields, so I went the week before to scope out the gardens and see where I might like to shoot. I was so impressed by the variety of natural and man-made features and landscapes. Some of my photos look like we are tucked away in a forest glade, while the ones around the Lilly House could be from an English garden. I love being able to offer this much variety to my couples so they have lots of images and styles to work with on their save the dates and wedding websites.
Shooting with two people as near and dear to my heart as Layton and Chelsea was, of course, the best part of the session for me, but I’ll share more on that in Part Two of this session!
