I’m Rachael Foster, and I love capturing beautiful relationships. Whether you’ve just fallen in love or been together for years, I want to hear your story and help you capture all it’s richness.
I’ve always been a storyteller. When I was a little girl, I would spend hours happily composing fairy tales aloud--usually with my little brother as my audience. Since then, I’ve drafted two novels (one when I was twelve and one when I was twenty-six). I like to tell myself I’ll finish the second one after my kids are grown.
In the meantime, I’m always on the hunt for my next great Kindle read, and I’m a total podcast junkie. A lot of my anecdotes and conversation starters begin with, “I was listening to this podcast…”
I grew up on a farm in Northern Michigan with my three brothers, and I have a lifelong love for animals, country living, and big families. I spent most of my 20s in Washington, D.C., but somehow I've never gotten interested in politics. When I have free time, I like being outdoors or creating things--especially if it involves brush lettering or chalk painting.
Like a lot of artists and entrepreneurs, I’m a recovering perfectionist. These days, I try not to take myself too seriously and spend time with people who make me smile. My husband has first place in that department, followed by our two little boys and crazy, beautiful Siberian Husky. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll see a lot of dog and baby photos.
I jumped into wedding photography in my early 20s, and I’ve held on to this career through a whole series of life changes and industry shifts. The beautiful moments of connection I see between people on a wedding day keep me coming back for more!
I do things a little differently than most wedding photographers. My work is known for being refreshingly real. I believe in capturing the richness of your relationship in an authentic and timeless style. I love beautiful dresses and details, but my favorite photos are moments of heartfelt emotion and interaction. I believe weddings are about more than one perfect day, and I want my photos to nurture your love and relationship over a lifetime.
Over the years, I've won some awards and been published a few places including Style Me Pretty, BRIDES, Bridal Guide, The Knot, Wedding Wire, United with Love, The Washingtonian, Borrowed & Blue, Artfully Wed, Every Last Detail, Paper Moon Weddings and more. While I love having my couples and their weddings featured, my greatest joy comes from serving them well.
I'm currently based in Indianapolis, Indiana with frequent trips back to Washington, D.C., Traverse City, Michigan, and anywhere else my couples wed. To inquire about wedding dates, or just say hello, please email me. I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
