Welcome! I'm Rachael, and I'm all about capturing beautiful relationships.
Whether you’ve just fallen in love or been together for years, I want to hear your story and help you capture all it’s richness.
I've been photographing weddings and families for almost a decade, and I've seen a lot of trends come and go. The things that don't change are the beautiful moments of connection I see between people, and that's what keeps me coming back for more.
When it comes to wedding photography, I do things a little differently than most photographers. My work is known for being refreshingly real. I believe in capturing the richness of your relationship in an authentic and timeless style. I love beautiful dresses and details, but my favorite photos are moments of heartfelt emotion and interaction. I believe weddings are about more than one perfect day, and I want my photos to nurture your love and relationship over a lifetime.
If you want to see what I mean, the slideshow below features some of my very favorite moments of emotion and interaction between my couples and the people in their lives.
You can view more of my favorite wedding images in my portfolio gallery.
I hope my images speak for themselves, but I know couples like to hear what other professionals think of their photographer too! Over the years, I've won some awards and been published in a number of places, including Style Me Pretty, Wedding Chicks, BRIDES, Bridal Guide, The Knot, Wedding Wire, United with Love, The Washingtonian, Borrowed & Blue, Artfully Wed, Every Last Detail, Paper Moon Weddings and more. While I love having my couples and their weddings featured, my greatest joy comes from serving them well. You can read about other couple's experiences here.
As a recovering perfectionist and Type-A artist, I take my work very seriously, but I try not to take myself too seriously. More than anything, I love spending time with people who make me smile. My husband takes first place in that department, followed by our two little boys and crazy, beautiful Siberian Husky.
Other things you should know about me: I grew up on a farm in Northern Michigan with my three brothers, and I have a lifelong love for animals, country living, and big families. I spent most of my 20s in Washington, D.C., but somehow I've never gotten interested in politics. When I have free time, I like being outdoors or creating things--especially if it involves brush lettering or chalk painting.
I'm currently based in Indianapolis, Indiana with frequent trips back to Washington, D.C., my hometown of Traverse City, Michigan, and anywhere else my couples wed. To inquire about wedding dates, or just say hello, please email me. I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
